Why medicine?

Dr. Saad Selema graduated from medical school, then devoted himself to gold trading and manufacturing at Selema Gold, the family company since 1968. That is where the idea came from: most investor mistakes have a familiar counterpart in medicine, such as an overdose, a misdiagnosis or side effects.

A medical analogy makes an idea clearer and easier to remember. A patient who understands why the dose matters sticks to it, and so does an investor.

An example from the series: The Overdose

In medicine, any useful drug becomes dangerous when the dose is too high. Saving works the same way: putting all your money in one asset, even gold, is an overdose.

If you suddenly need the money and have to sell while the price is down, you lose because of poor allocation, not because of gold itself. Balance is the cure, and excess is the disease.
